The National Coordinator, All Progressives Congress (APC) Volunteers Group, Amb. Victor Olufemi has condemned the rejection of Governor Babajide Sawonwo-Olu’s call for “Peace Walk” by some celebrities in the country.

Olufemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Akin Makanjuola, described the rejection as insensitive.

He added that the peace walk is one of the ways to build relationships and win the confidence of youths after the #EndSARS saga.

Sanwo-Olu had on Tuesday, revealed plans to organize a peace walk in December in commemoration of the #EndSARS Movement and as a way of closing the gap between the government and the citizens.

He recalled that some celebrities such as Skit maker Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, Folarin Falana and others in a swift reaction had indicated that they will not participate in the peace walk.

He noted that some youths in Lagos and other parts of the country had also condemned the stand of celebrities.

Olufemi queried that “if the youth reject the peace walk is it war walk they prefer?”

Recalling the famous statement of British Prime Minister, Wiston Churchill shortly after the Second World war, he said, “it is always better to jaw, jaw than to war, war”

He admonished the youths to sheath their sword and embrace peace and dialogue as a means of conflict resolution.
