Factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) snubbed the Zamfara Appeal Committee for three days, making the panel affirm the election of a 36-member executive, allied with Governor Bello Matawalle.

Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Hammah-Adama Aliyu Kumo, stated this while addressing the executive, led by Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani at the party’s secretariat.

Kumo said the committee did not receive petition from any aggrieved member after three days of sitting.

“The APC State Congress Appeal Committee began sitting in Gusau since Monday, November 30.

“This committee was sent from the Party’s National Secretariat to Zamfara state to do justice to every member.

“The committee had made several announcements on radio since its arrival to ensure justice for all aggrieved members of the party,” the chairman said.

According to him, the committee was given five days to receive and resolve complaints from genuine card-carrying members of the party who participated in the just-concluded congresses in the state.

“We were given five days from Monday to Friday to receive complaints on the conduct of the state congress from members of the party.

“But since we started sitting, we have not received any complaint for now, we are still waiting and by Friday we will complete our assignment.

“We shall then prepare our report to the APC national headquarters that appointed us,” Kumo said.

The Matawalle-led and Sen. Marafa-led factional ward, local government and state congresses in the state, were held to elect party officials.

The Yari-led faction, however, boycotted all the party’s congresses.

Yari had instructed his supporters not to participate in the congresses, describing the process as illegal.

The former governor’s faction had obtained a Federal High Court order that the factions should “maintain the status quo,” pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The order was obtained following a suit, 10 APC local government chairmen in the Yari faction filed challenging their dissolution from office.

The Gov. Mai Mala Buni-led APC National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee had dissolved the party executives shortly after Gov. Bello Matawalle defected to the APC on June 29.

The federal high court at its resumed hearing on Nov. 17, fixed Dec. 2 for ruling on the suit, but again adjourned to Tuesday, Dec. 7 for the judgement.
