Orji Kalu promises Enyimba N1m for Al Ittihad win

Senator Orji Kalu on Saturday promised Enyimba FC N1 million if they defeat Al Ittihad in the Confederation Cup playoff on Sunday.

“As Enyimba FC hosts Libyans in Aba tomorrow, I wish the coach, the commissioner of sports, and all-loving fans of Enyimba well,” Kalu noted on Facebook.

“Coming out victorious in the match is very important to us. I will congratulate the players with one million naira if they win the match.”

The first leg of the match was not played after Enyimba FC couldn’t face the Libyan side due to Covid-19 protocol.

The People’s Elephants were denied entry into Tunisia which was Al-Ittihad’s adopted home ground.

However, Enyimba FC Secretary Chibuzo Nworgu has stated that the People’s Elephants are prepared for a good outing on Sunday.

Nworgu told brila.net that the People’s Elephants will ensure they win and win well while they wait for the decision on when the hitherto first leg fixture will be replayed.

Meanwhile, the Al-Ittihad football club of Libya had arrived in Nigeria ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff tie.

The 40-man delegation, led by Italian manager Giuseppe Sannino, arrived at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos around 3.45 pm on Tuesday via a charter flight before immediately embarking for Port-Harcourt, then commune by bus to Aba, which is about 45 minutes from the Rivers State capital.
