Rivers man, Progress Phimia remanded for defiling 5- year- old daughter

A 40-year-old father, Progress Phimia, was remanded on Friday by a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt presided over by Chief Magistrate Amaka F.N Amanze, for allegedly defiling his fiver years old daughter.

Chief Magistrate Amanze ruled that he should be remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.

The charges sheet of the allegation against Phimia reads :”that you, Progress Phimia, ‘m’ of N0 4 Philips Close, Off road 24 Agip Estate, Port Harcourt, sometimes in the month of November 2021 in Port Harcourt Magisterial district unlawfully had carnal knowledge of your daughter aged 5 years and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 218 of criminal code Cap “37” Vol.11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 2004.

The defendant did not take plea when the charge was read to him.

The Chief Magistrate adjourned to 9, December, 2021 and ordered case file be transferred to Director of Public Prosecution for advice.
