Chelsea’s manager, Thomas Tuchel has blamed individual mistakes and back pass for their loss to West Ham on Saturday.
The blues fell 3-2 to a more determined West Ham side despite leading and dominating the match.
Chelsea went ahead just before the half hour mark. Thiago Silva rose up above a static Michail Antonio to head past Fabianski, who got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep it out.
Five minutes after, however, Jorginho badly under-hit a backpass to Edouard Mendy, who instead of booting clear tried to dribble out of danger, only to wipe out Jarrod Bowen.
Manuel Lanzini stroked the ball past Mendy from the spot to level the scores at 1-1 but just four minutes later, Chelsea were ahead once again.
That lead was eroded once again by the homes side as Jarrod Bowen lashed past Mendy to make it 2-2 ten minutes into the second half.
Tuchel brought in Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic after the break to chase a winner but they didn’t get it as it came from the home side, Arthur Masuaku’s cross took a slight deflection and the ball landed in the net.
In his post match interview, Tuchel said although the team’s performance was enough to win a match, individual errors cost them.
“I don’t think we did a bad match, it was a okay match. It’s tough to play here. We had to many individual mistakes, it was the same against Man Utd and Watford.
”We talked about it before and obviously it didn’t help. That’s the story. Everybody is involved, the decision is not the best to pass the ball back.
“We struggled a bit, defensively too. We have a horrible pass back in the feet of the opponent. You cannot do that in the top level.
”Every loss is a bump in the road, that will not hold us back with we demand from us. We need to play more accurately and more stable,” he said.
