An emergency meeting of Imo State the traditional rulers, has been summoned, hours after the body of kidnapped king of Atta ancient kingdom, Eze Edwin Azike was found in the market square.
A source close to the chairman of traditional rulers, Eze Emmanuel Okeke, told newsmen that an emergency meeting has been summoned to discuss the matter.
“Imo monarchs are in pains. Why should this be happening to us. They kidnap us and they kill us.
This is very painful. Imo monarchs are meeting now to know the next line of action,” he said.
Eze Emma Okeke, said that the monarchs in the state were saddened by the killing of Eze Edwin Azike.
He described the monarch’s killing as an abomination noting that the council was on Friday morning informed of the killing of the traditional ruler.
“We have got the sad news about the killing of Eze Edwin Azike. This is abominable in Igbo culture.
“I don’t know why traditional rulers are being hunted like this.
“We are not politicians, we are only custodians of the culture of our people.
“We were informed on Thursday when he was kidnapped, only for him to be found dead, this morning,” he said.
Eze Edwin Azike, the traditional ruler of Atta ancient kingdom in the Njaba LGA, Eze Edwin Azike, was kidnapped Thursday.
His body was found in the market square in the community on Friday morning.
Villagers discovered the body Friday morning.
His death was confirmed to P.M. News by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in Imo State, Micheal Abattam.
The Police spokesperson said the command has swung into action and is already on the trail of the assailants.
