Nicaragua announced on Thursday it was ending its policy of dealing with both Taiwan, also called the Republic of China (ROC), and the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Foreign Minister Denis Moncada said henceforth it will begin solely recognizing the Beijing government.
“The government of the Republic of Nicaragua declares that it recognizes there is only one China existing in the world,” Moncada said on Thursday in Managua.
“The People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government that represents all of China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory,” he said.
