Mahuton, Loukou, 2 others win ECOWAS excellence awards

Four distinguished West Africans have won the 2020 ECOWAS Excellence awards in three categories, science and technology, arts and letters and community service.
They were given the awards at the opening ceremony of the 60th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS.
The summit held at the conference hall of the Presidential Villa Abuja.


Prof Prof Basile Bruno Daggbe Mahuton Kounouhewa won the Award for Science and Technology and got $25,000.
Mrs Akissi Dephine Loukou received the Award for Arts and Letters, along with Mrs Nicole Werewere Liking Eddy-Njock Epse Gnepo.
Nicole Werewere is a 71 year-old Cameroonian novelist, essayist, poet, playwright, and short story writer.
Akissi Dephine Loukou, born 1960, is an actress and filmmaker from the Ivory Coast.
While Werewere got $10,000, Loukou got $15,000
The fourth award recipient was Mrs Leymah Roberta Gbowee
She was honoured for community service. She got $10,000.
Gbowee, a Liberian peace activist was 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner.
