Alphonsus Eba gave the appointees up till  31 December 2021 to register or be relieved of their appointments on 1 January 2021.

Alphonsus Eba, chairman-elect of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said 7,000 aides of Gov. Ben Ayade will be sacked by January if they don’t register with the party before then.

Eba said this at a media briefing in Calabar, the state capital on Tuesday.

He said the appointees had not registered as members of APC and gave an ultimatum to the aides until December 31, 2021 to register or be relieved of their appointments on January 1, 2021.

“All the 7,000 appointees yet to register with the APC must be relieved of their appointments,” he said, adding that their positions will be filled by APC members.

Gov. Ayade has appointed 38,000 political aides during his tenure.

The chairman-elect affirmed at the press conference that APC is the party to beat, noting that his view is shared by many APC members in Cross-River State.

“We have had interactions with aggrieved members of our party. In the last count, not fewer than 100 distinguished party members, young, old, major, minor have been visited.

“The belief of every party member is that APC is the party to beat.”
