Buhari opens up on 2023 and his next move

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has opened up on what he would be doing after handing over power in 2023.

The president has consistently said he would hand over power to the next president smoothly in 2023 and that he nursed no ambition of a third term.

In far away Turkey, Buhari said he was going back to his farm and to take full charge of it.

He said he was looking forward to 2023 when he would finish his second tenure.

“I look forward to the year 2023 when I finish, to go home to take charge of my farm.

“Between now and that time, I will do the best that is possible to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution,” he said told well wishers who organised surprise birthday for him.

The president had earlier cut a birthday cake moulded in national colours, green-white-green to start the day, went straight to chair a planning meeting with officials in his delegation and thereafter drove to the Dolmabahce Palace for a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Tayyip Recep Erdogan.
