Daredevil hoodlums suspected to be cultists invaded Bayelsa line transport Company in Mile 3 market, Diobu in Port Harcourt on Thursday, breaking into shops and dispossessing customers and traders of their money and other valuables.
Some shop owners who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent they lost many valuables and money to the cultists who attacked them around 3 pm.
The Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu Oroworukwo community, Godstime Ihunwo, where Mile 3 market is located told our correspondent that combined efforts of youths, personnel of Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3 and Octopus Strike Force unit led to the arrest of eleven hoodlums suspected to be cultists.
Mr Ihunwo also alleged attempt that the rampaging hoodlums attempted to snatch the rifle of a soldier attached to a construction company working at Ikokwu junction, Ikwerre road.
As at press time, it was gathered that five of the hoodlums are being detained at Octopus strike force while six are being detained at Nkpolu Police Division Mile 3.
When contacted the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Grace Iringe Koko told our correspondent that her office is in the process of issuing a press release on the incident soon.
