For Ibukun Awosika, former Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria, Christmas Eve (24 December) of each year, is a special day for her.

This is because she was born on December 24 and also the day she wedded.

Year 2021 has been very rough for her. She was sacked in May as chairman of First Bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

She had insisted that the board of the bank which she headed then acted in the best interest of the bank in its decisions, adding that they had great plans and aspirations for where the bank could go in the near future, building on all the work that had already been done in the over 5 years since she became Chairman of the bank.

But Awosika has moved on since then.

Today is her special day and she will not let her past rub it off.
