Head coach Augustine Eguaevon has named the 28-man final list of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) in a post on Facebook.
Eguavoen, who coached the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the finals in Egypt 15 years ago, selected four goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders, and 10 forwards to aim for Nigeria’s fourth diadem in Cameroon.
The African cup of nations will kick-off in Cameroon on the 9th of January with Captain Ahmed Musa, midfield enforcer Wilfred Ndidi and effervescent forward Victor Osimhen all making the cut for the competition.
There is a return to the group of former U17 World Cup –winning captain Kelechi Nwakali, forward Emmanuel Dennis and 2016 Olympics star Sadiq Umar.
The three –time winners will confront seven-time and record winners Egypt, Sudan and debutants Guinea Bissau with venue in the northern town of Garoua.
The Eagles will confront Egypt in a mouth-watering opener for the group on Tuesday, 11.
All invited players, except those based in the UK, are expected to arrive in camp in Nigeria’s federal capital, Abuja on 29th December.
The UK-based players are expected to start arriving on Monday, 3rd January.
