The Youth Assembly of Nigeria Kogi State Chapter, on Sunday gave Governor Hope Uzodimma led Imo State Government 72-hour ultimatum to release Mr. Uche Nwosu, President of the Ugwumba center for Leadership development in Africa.
Nwosu, son-in-law of former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha also doubles as the National Patron of the Youth Assembly.
The youth body demanded the immediate and unconditional release of their National Patron threatening that failure to do so would lead to shutdown of Imo state with mass protest by youths from all over Nigeria.
Earlier reports on Sunday had indicated that Nwosu was kidnapped by Gunmen at St. Peters Anglican Church Nkwerre of Imo State where he attended a Thanksgiving service in commemoration of his late mother, Jemaimah Nwosu who was laid to rest last week Wednesday
However, the Imo State Police Command has said the gunmen who arrested Nwosu and took him away from the Church were its personnel.
Some reports claimed that the police officers who abducted Nwosu were from Imo State government house.
But while calling for immediate release of Nwosu, Youth body in a press release, signed by the Youth Ambassador of Kogi State, Obaje Mustapha Hassan, on Sunday called on the all stakeholders, National Principal officers and State Chapters of the Assembly to rise against this act aimed at surpressing the vibrancy of Youths in politics.
The youth body called for the immediate release of Nwosu.
