Nigeria’s Federal capital, Abuja recorded 909 Covid-19 cases from 24 December till Boxing Day, the NCDC reported.

Abuja had logged 103 cases on 24 December in the report by NCDC on 25 December. It didn’t report any case on Christmas Day.

But in the Boxing Day report, the NCDC credited it with 806 cases, representing a backlog for three days.

“806 confirmed cases reported from FCT for 24th (additional 128 cases), 25th (302) & 26th (376) December”, NCDC stated.

The report comes amid news that some presidential aides have contracted the disease.

Only SSA Media, Garba Shehu, has confirmed his positive status.

The NCDC also reported 159 backlog cases for Borno state and seven new cases on Boxing Day, making a total of 166.

Lagos still led in daily covid-19 cases with 401, in contrast to Abuja’s 376, according to NCDC report today.

In all, Nigeria recorded 1,547 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday bringing the country’s total to 237,561.

The virus has also taken 3,022 lives, up from 3,014 on 25 December.

Three of the seven deaths occurred in Abuja, NCDC said.

The rest occurred in states other than Lagos, which the NCDC did not specify.

Nigeria has treated and discharged 212,550 of those infected. 193 of them were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.

Nigeria has also taken 3,751,696 samples since the outbreak of the virus.
