Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has contracted COVID-19 for the second time, the London club announced today.
“Mikel Arteta will miss our match against Manchester City on New Year’s Day after testing positive for COVID-19”, the club announced.
“Mikel is isolating in line with Government guidelines and we wish him well”, the club added.
The Spaniard tested positive in March 2020, shortly before English football was shutdown as the country tried to get a grip of the pandemic.
‘This is really disappointing,’ said Arteta, 37, via BBC Sport.
‘I took the test after feeling poorly. I will be at work as soon as I’m allowed.’
