Adesina Soyemi, Commissioner of Police (CP) in Nasarawa State, said his men arrested 1,165 suspects for different offenses in the state from Jan. 1, to Dec. 31.
The CP’s announcement is contained in a statement signed by ASP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state.
The statement gave the breakdown of the suspects arrested as well as the exhibits recovered within the period under review.
It stated that 104 suspected kidnappers, 102 robbery suspects, 309 suspected cultists, 50 rail track/slippers vandals, 61 rape suspects, two Indian hemp dealers, 25 internet fraudsters, and 37 culpable for homicide and 475 for other sundry offenses were arrested.
It also listed the exhibits recovered to include 38 bags of Indian hemp 82 firearms, 1,116 munitions, 11 vehicles, 24 laptops, 45 motorcycles and 12 tricycles.
The CP in the statement also expressed his determination safeguard the lives and property of the good people of the state by creating a peaceful environment for businesses to strive.
The commissioner attributed the successes recorded to the untiring support of the state government.
He also said that the support and guidance of Inspector-General of Police Alkali Baba-Usman and synergy with sister security agencies had helped in the feats achieved.
The CP also expressed gratitude to the public for their support and solicited more collaboration in 2022.
He, therefore, promised that the command would not relent on its oars in crime-fighting to reduce it to its barest minimum and make the state the safest in the country.
