Ologbo community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State has been connected to the 40MW Ossiomo Independent Power Plant, Benin, Edo State.

The power plant is dedicated to provide power to the Benin Industrial and Enterprise Park and local communities in the area.

Also connected to the power plant are Obayantor and other local communities in the area and the 997-hectare Benin Enterprise Park (BEP), mixed-use development designed to accommodate light industries and residential zones.

The Managing Director of Ossiomo Power, Dr. Uwa Igiehon, disclosed this in a statement from the office of Mr. Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser (Media Project) to Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He noted that the development has brought succour to members of Ologbo community which has been in total darkness for four years after it was severed from the BEDC Electricity Plc for the past four years, which had thrown the community into darkness.

“The 40MW plant was tested on 29th of December and is fully operational. At the moment, the plant is providing electricity to Ologbo and Obayantor communities in the area.”

Dr. Igiehon further explained that the power plant, in conjunction with the Edo State Government, now provides round clock electricity to Ologbo and Obayantor communities.

He noted that the development is a testament to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s pledge to light up Edo State.

The BEP will be equipped with a state-of-the-art civil infrastructure comprising graded plots, roads, power, water, communications, drainage, sewage treatment plant, effluent treatment plant, stormwater drains, rainwater harvesting, and firefighting facilities, among others.

It will also include specialised infrastructure, such as quality control labs, quality certification centres, raw material storage, and other warehousing and logistics services.
