Confirmed COVID-19 cases increased marginally from 791 on Thursday to 814 on Friday, The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said.
The death toll also rose by five to 3,070.
The new cases were recorded in 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), taking the total to 247,009.
The NCDC disclosed that 217,832 Nigerians have been successfully treated and discharged nationwide.
It said over 26,000 people were still down with the virus.
Lagos State logged the highest number of infections with 310 cases, followed by Rivers with 126 and Taraba, 76 cases.
NCDC also explained 76 confirmed cases reported for Taraba state are backlogs for 21st (6), 24th (5), 29th (36), 30th (12) December 2021, 2nd (7) & 4th (10) January 2022.
Similarly, 27 confirmed cases reported for Kaduna state are for 6th January 2022
