Sunday Oliseh, Nigeria’s former Super Eagles coach, said the Super Eagles displayed their best performance in recent years in their game against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
Oliseh made this known via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday following Eagles 1-0 victory against the Egyptians at the Roumde Adjia Stadium of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
The first group D game saw Nigeria dominate the game from the onset leaving no space for a reply by the Egyptians.
Oliseh, however, added that fans could become optimistic going forward.
“Technically, tactically, physically, mentally & whatever positive you can think of, Eguavoen’s led Super Eagles, I feel, dominated Egypt and this is, the best Eagles performance in recent years.
” At this rate, we can be extremely optimistic my people…”, he tweeted via @sundayooliseh.
Napoli based forward Victor Osimhen, who was unable to be in Cameroon due to COVID-19 related issues, also hailed the team’s performance.
“Congratulations guys, amazing performance. We continue to build on this momentum,” Osimhen noted on his Twitter handle @victorosimhen9.
Also four-time CAF Women Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, added her voice in praise of the team through her page @asisatoshoala.
“Thank you Super Eagles. Everyone showed up today. Beautiful football too.
What a way to start the tournament…”, Oshoala tweeted.
Nigeria will face Sudan for the second group D game on Saturday before meeting Guinea Bissau on Jan. 19.
