Seun Kuti, the youngest son of legendary Afrobeat music legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti is celebrating the addition of another year.
The Egypt 80’s bandleader who is excited as he clocks 39 today January, 11th, 2022, wrote on his Instagram page; “Thanks for all the love and it’s not even 7 am here.
“To the last year before 40! #getthesax #39yearsroundthesun”
Seun Kuti’s wife Yeide also celebrated him in a unique style.
The mother of one took to her Instagram page where she penned a cute message to celebrate the birthday boy.
“Happy Birthday my darling husband. This year ehn! I am short of words because you have finished me with so much love that I can’t begin to write how you make me feel,” she wrote.
“I’ll just laugh with all the wonderful Memories. I love you now and forever my king..thanks for being a great everything and rocking my world always.”
Legendary Nigerian dancer and first child of the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Yeni, wrote: “Happy birthday baby brother. @bigbirdkuti. I wish you all the best today and always. Have a wonderful day! Our Creator’s blessings on you!”
The eldest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and Nigerian musician, Femi Anikulapo Kuti and his son Made Kuti also celebrated Seun on his big day.

Born on 11th January 1983, Seun is a Nigerian musician, singer and currently leads his father’s former band Egypt 80. He became interested in music at the age of five, and by the time he turned nine, he had started playing with his father’s band, Egypt 80.
Fela Kuti died in 1997 and Seun Kuti took the role of leading Egypt 80. In 2008, the band released an album called Many Things. This was the first album released under the moniker Sean Kuti & Egypt 80.
Seun has featured in Calle 13’s song “Todo se mueve” (Everything Moves), on their 2010 album Entren los que quieran.
In 2014, Seun Kuti was given an honorary invitation to perform live for the first time at the Industry Nite. In 2019, Kuti was a featured guest on 85 to Africa; the second album by American rapper Jidenna. In June, Kuti was featured in the Visual Collaborative electronic catalogue, under the Polaris series, he was interviewed on Pan-African awareness, his country and music.
Seun Kuti participated actively in the Occupy Nigeria protests against the fuel subsidy removal policy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria in January 2012. In November 2020, he led the revival of his father’s defunct political party – Movement of the People – with the intention of registering it with Nigeria’s electoral body, INEC.
Seun and girlfriend Yetunde George Ademiluyi welcomed a baby girl on 16 December 2013 and named her Ifafunmike Adara Anikulapo-Kuti.
In 2018, Black Times, by Seun Kuti was nominated for the Grammys, in the World Music Category. This makes him the second child of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti to be considered for this award, as his elder brother Femi Kuti has been previously nominated in the same category without a win.
