A 41-year-old man, Tiamiyu Saheed, has been docked at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun state for allegedly threatening one Mrs Morufat Tiamiyu with a cutlass.

The police charged Saheed with threat to life.

The defendant, who has no fixed address, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 31 at 9.00 p.m. at No. 12 Izibill St., off God First, Itele, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant threatened Mrs Morufat Tiamiyu with cutlass and sent a series of text messages to threaten her life.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 89 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 27 for further hearing.
