AS Roma bosses hold crunch talks with Mourinho

Jose Mourinho sacked

Jose Mourinho’s days at AS Roma could be numbered after bosses held showdown talks with him Monday following the club’s worst start to a domestic season in 43 years.

Roma are sixth in Serie A and are already 17 points behind league leaders Inter Milan.

At this point last year under Paulo Fonseca they were just eight points worse off after 21 matches.

More tragic for the club was the 4-3 defeat to Juventus over the weekend.

Roma led the game 3-1 with 20 minutes to go.

According to Football Italia, club chiefs have no intention of sacking Mourinho, despite meeting with him to discuss his progress, as well as his vision for the team.

The Special One is reportedly well liked in the Roma squad, who are “fascinated” by his charisma, in spite of his spiky post-match interviews.

Pressure is however beginning to mount on the former Tottenham Hotspur boss, following the capitulation on Sunday to Juventus, reports Daily Star.

Mourinho slaughtered his players in his post-match interview, accusing them of being mentally “weak” and “lacking personality”.

He was angry after Juventus scored three times in seven minutes to flip the match on its head.

“It was so good for 70 minutes, then there was this psychological collapse,” he said.

“The fear set in. A psychological complex. It’s not a problem for me having 3-2, it’s a problem for them. For my team.

“At the end of the day, when you’re in the s***, you get back on your feet and find your character.

“There are people in this locker room who are a bit too nice, a bit too weak.”
