Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Thursday pledged to provide adequate protection for individuals in the state that give vital intelligence information about criminals to security agencies.

Bello gave the pledge at the eighth-day Fidau prayers in memory of Hajia Hajarah Momoh, the late mother of the state’s Accountant-General, Jibrin Momoh.

“I wish to assure residents of Kogi that my administration will continue to protect individuals, who give vital intelligence information to the security agencies about the activities of criminal elements in their domain.

“This is because this government has no room for criminality and criminals and has strongly resolved to squarely deal with such unwanted elements.

“The achievements and peace recorded under his administration were due to the fact that the state was peaceful.

“My administration will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of the people of Kogi and their genuine sources of livelihoods.

“As good people of the state, I implore you to continue to live in peace and don’t relent in sharing credible intelligence information with security agencies.

“We owe our peace and, therefore, we require your unflinching support as residents in helping us in our fight to eradicate crimes in this state, ” the governor stated.

Bello, however, condoled with Momoh’s family and described Hajia Hajarah as a virtuous, God-fearing woman.

The governor urged the children and other loved ones to take solace in God.
