The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has suspended its National Chairman, Olu Agunloye and National Secretary, Shehu Gabam over alleged misconduct.

The party’s National executive council in a statement on Saturday said both executives were suspended for disregarding part of the provisions of the SDP constitution.

The party in its statement added that SDP’s deputy chairman, Adul Isaq, will immediately act as the interim chairman, while Simon Adesina will step in as the national secretary, pending the outcome of its convention.

SDP also postponed its national convention by two days from April 27, 2022 to 29.

The Council annulled the appointment of National Working Committee members namely the National Youth Leader, Okechukwu Ogbonna and National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Aiyegba.

It, therefore, mandated the National Working Committee to nominate more members.

It resolved to set up the convention planning committee, zoning committee, national reconciliation committee, contact and mobilisation committee and the finance review committee.

Each of the committees will have nominees from the six geopolitical zones.
