The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, had predicted that the Super Eagles “will not” succeed in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The cleric made the prediction in December 2021.
Ayodele noted that the Super Eagles will try their best but it won’t be enough.
He said, “Before the removal of the Super Eagles coach (Gernot Rohr), I said it since July and now that they are going for the Nations Cup, Nigeria cannot win.
“They cannot lift the cup, they will only try their best but they can’t succeed.”
However, the Super Eagles were booted out of AFCON 2021 by Tunisia in the knockout stage on the 23rd of January 2021.
The Tunisians, who only qualified as one of the four third-placed countries, defeated Nigeria, who qualified to the Knock Out stage by winning all their matches in the group stage, by 1-0.
Youssef Msakni scored the decisive goal two minutes into the second half, while Alex Iwobi was sent off just seven minutes after being substituted on, making it difficult for Nigeria to come back against their Covid-19 stricken opponents.
