FNB customers win R13M for getting vaccinated

Several of South Africa’s First National Bank (FNB) customers who participated in its monthly draws and are vaccinated against COVID-19 have won millions of rand.

The bank said on Monday that they paid 3 million rands (196,400 U.S. dollars) to the final winner, a 48-year-old FNB account holder from Johannesburg in January.

Since October last year, FNB customers have been eligible to win millions by simply verifying their vaccination status on the FNB App.

The prize money included 3 million rand every month for being an FNB customer, an additional 1 million rand if the winner is over 60 years old.

Customers who have insurance with FNB Life had a chance to receive an extra 2 million rand.

According to the bank, there were three lucky customers who won a total amount of 13 million rands.

“We are delighted with the positive response we have received from our customers since the announcement of this campaign late last year.

“We would like to congratulate all the winners and hope that the prize money will help them realize some of their lifelong aspirations,” said Lee Bromfield, CEO of FNB Life.

“Additionally, we thank all our customers who participated in the campaign and for their efforts in helping our country to minimize the impact of COVID-19 by being vaccinated,” he added.

Bromfield called on the people to be responsible and prevent spreading of the COVID-19.

“Through our life insurance business, we’ve witnessed the impact of COVID-19 on people’s health and livelihoods over the last two years.

“We firmly believe that all partners in society have a responsibility to continue supporting efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.

“More significantly, we encourage customers to prioritise adherence to safety protocols for their individual wellness,” he said.
