Elegushi charges Christian pilgrims' board on efficiency

Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, the Commissioner for Home Affairs has charged the newly inaugurated board members of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (CPWB) to be efficient in the discharge of their duties.

The commissioner stated this on Wednesday during the official inauguration of the board at the State’s Treasury Resource Centre, CBD Alausa, Ikeja.

While noting that the enviable heights that the pilgrim’s board has attained must be sustained, he stated that the inauguration signifies the commencement of the Board’s assignment.

He reiterated that the high confidence reposed in the nomination of the Board’s members by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu must not be let down.

According to him, the Governor has absolute confidence in their ability to discharge their duties creditably and diligently in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the present administration.

“This is another call to duty and an opportunity for you to serve the State just as you have done at various times in your endeavours.

“Your appointment is a demonstration of Mr Governor’s confidence in your antecedents and track record of integrity, impeccable character, competence, experience and passion for public service,”  he said.

Elegushi added that the governing board is the creation of the enabling statute of the Agency to ensure effective and efficient pilgrimage operations for Christians in Lagos State.

Therefore, he enjoined the Board members and the Management to work in collaboration and synergy to ensure that the THEMES Agenda of the administration is achieved.

“It is no longer news that Lagos State has been adjudged as one of the best states in the country with a good track record of conducting hitch-free pilgrimages with all indices of efficiency and effectiveness. With your inauguration, we expect that you will sustain and build on this legacy of quality service’’.

The Board chairman, Christian Pilgrims Welfare, Rt. Rev Babatunde Akinpelu-Johnson reiterated the commitment of the board in ensuring that Christian pilgrims enjoy a seamless and hitch-free pilgrim exercise.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Oluseyi Whenu charged the newly inaugurated board to be up to task, as their appointment is a call to service.

He urged them to cooperate in the discharge of their duties while assuring them of the Ministry’s support.

The newly appointed members of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board are Rt. Rev Babatunde C. Akinpelu-Johnson (Chairman); Mr. Yemisi Adeyemi; Bishop (Prof.) R. A. Oguntuase; Mr. Ademola Adeosun; Mrs. Abiodun Naz-Musa and Deaconess Adeyinka Odugbade.
