One of the leaders of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State, Ibrahim Maliya Saidu, has died from an explosion planted on the road by Boko Haram insurgents.

Five other people were injured in the incident which happened in Biu Local Government Area of Borno.

Maliya Saidu was the planning secretary of CJTF in Biu.

The incident reportedly happened around Maliya village, Mandaragarau ward in Biu.

A top CJTF member, Mohammed Aliyu, who announced Maaliya’s death described him as a brave member who battled insurgents on several occasions.

“We received the sad news this afternoon, that one of our finest CJTF members died during an operation. It was a rude shock to everyone. May the soul of departed rest in peace.”

“Rest in peace, my brother Ibrahim Maliya Saidu Maliya, alongside other friends of ours, including Docta Suleiman Sykami, who also stepped on explosive devices planted by suspected Boko Haram fighters.”
