Another adviser, the fifth to PM Boris Johnson quits

A fifth adviser Elena Narozanski quit British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s No 10 team Friday as speculation mounted whether he could survive the upheaval around him amid Partygate.
She followed Munira Mirza, his head of policy, Dan Rosenfield, his chief of staff, Martin Reynolds, his principal private secretary, and Jack Doyle, his director of communications.
Narozanski departed as a senior Conservative MP said that the prime minister needed to shape up.
Narozanski worked in the Downing Street policy unit alongside Mirza, one of Johnson’s closest allies.
Senior government sources speculated that there could be further resignations from others close to Mirza.
“They are deeply loyal to Munira,” one said.
Huw Merriman, Tory chairman of the transport select committee, said he was “deeply troubled” by the upheaval in Downing Street.
He said he supported Rishi Sunak, the chancellor, who distanced himself yesterday from Johnson’s widely criticised comments accusing Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, of having failed to prosecute the paedophile television personality Jimmy Savile.
“I’m deeply troubled by what’s going on,” Merriman told BBC Radio 4’s Today.
“We all know that if the prime minister doesn’t shape up then they have to ship out.”
