Engr. Don, accomplice re-arraigned over alleged N13m fraud

The Police at the Zone 2 Command, Lagos have re-arraigned an engineer, Don Ezekwere, 53, and his alleged accomplice, Mopelola Domigos before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for allegedly obtaining the sum of N13, 000, 000 from one Sidney Okposo under false pretence.

The defendants were first arraigned before the Court in December, 2021 on a two-count charged marked M/32/2021 for allegedly obtaining the sum of N75m from one Ifeoma Obi on the pretext of selling five plots of land to her.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges in the open Court and were granted bail.

In the amended and substituted three-count charge marked M/32A/2022, Police Prosecuting Counsel, Ibrahim Haruna informed the Court that the defendants committed the offence on 28 July, 2017 and in 2021 at Ogidan Family of Okun Ajah, Lagos.

Haruna told the Court that the defendants fraudulently collected the sum of N13, 000, 000 from one Sidney Okposa with the promise to sell five plots of land to him, and that the defendants resold the five plots of land to another person knowing full well that the said property belonged to one Alhaji Al-moruf Jimoh.

Haruna said the offences, the defendants committed were punishable under sections 411, 314 (a) (3) and 52 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants again pleaded not guilty to the charges in the open Court and the Magistrate, Mrs Gbajumo Ayoku ordered that the defendants should continue to enjoy the previous bail granted them.

Ayoku adjourned the case till 28 February, 2022 for mention.
