The Katsina Police Command on Friday said five terrorists were shot dead in the state during gun-battle with its operatives.
The shooting occurred on Thursday, according to command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah.
According to him, the police, in an early morning operation engaged in a fierce gun-battle with terrorists at Kuru and Dangani villages in Matazu Local Government Area of the state.
He said five of the terrorists were gunned down by the police, adding that the terrorists had earlier on Thursday morning attacked two villages and abducted one Alhaji Sule, stole 81 cows, 54 sheep and a donkey.
Isah said the stolen items were recovered and the abductee rescued by the police.
He added that from police’s recent encounters with terrorists, the command had discovered that they have changed their modus operandi, as they now use vehicles to attack instead of motorcycles which they used to operate with.
Isah stated that apart from the Golf car recovered from them during the operation, the terrorists also used a J5, and a Sharon in the last Wednesday operation in Jibiya, where a gallant DPO for the area was killed.
He said the police, however, were ready for the terrorists, notwithstanding any strategy they might come up with.
