Police nab fleeing Augustine for stealing employer’s N1.09m property

A security man, John Augustine, 36, who fled after conniving with his partner, Yakubu Paul, for allegedly stealing properties value N1.09m belonging to their employer, has been arrested and charged to Court.
The Police at the Bar beach Division, Victoria Island, Lagos alleged that Augustine connived with Yakubu Paul to steal properties value N1.09m belonging to the management of Investment One Financial Services located at 37, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
It added that while Paul was arrested and charged to Court, Augustine escaped before he was arrested after about two years of Police manhunt.
Augustine was charge before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a one count charge of stealing.
Police Counsel, Reuben Solomon informed the Court that the defendant and others committed the offence on 18 December, 2021 at Investment One Financial Services at Victoria Island, Lagos.
Solomon told the Court that Augustine betrayed the trust reposed in him by his employer and connived with his partner, Paul to steal properties value N1.09m belonging to their employer at midnight.
Solomon said the offence committed was punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Augustine pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate O.S Abioye granted him N200, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Abioye adjourned the case till 22 February, 2022 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Correction Facility till he perfected the bail Conditions
