Wicked woman Opeyemi jailed for inflicting razor blade injuries on 12-year-old boy

A Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State has sentenced a 36-year-old mother of four Omoyeni Opeyemi, to three and half years in prison for inflicting razor blade injuries on the body of a 12-year -old boy, Joel Sunday.

Joel is the woman’s househelp.

A trending video had shown the boy bleeding profusely from various parts of his body after the woman inflicted deep cuts on his body with razor blade.

The convict was arrested by the men of the state police command after she used a razor blade to inflict multiple injuries on the body of the victim at Adebowale Area of Akure, Ondo State.

Omoyeni had accused the boy of stealing some pieces of meat from her pot of soup.

Her action generated condemnation by Nigerians who called for the immediate prosecution of the woman, after watching the video of the boy dripping in blood.

The 36-year-old widow was however arraigned on a five-count charge bothering on attempted murder, child abuse, violence against person prohibition among others

The defendant pleaded guilty to counts one, four and five while she pleaded not guilty to count three.

The Prosecutor, Mr. Emmanuel Tanimowo said the defendant committed the offence on February 6, 2022, at her residence located at Idimango Adebowale, Ondo Road, Akure.

However, Counsel to the defendant, Mr Gbenga Allen appealed to the court to temper justice with mercy as the defendant was a first time offender.

In her ruling the Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Edwin said the defendant was guilty of counts one, four and five.

She however struck out count four.
