Breaking: Kidnappers release IPMAN boss Egele after collecting N70million ransom in Kaduna

The abducted chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Benin Depot, Alhaji Abdul-Hamid Egele, has finally regained regained freedom from his abductors.

Popularly called Baba Petrol, the IPMAN chairman was kidnapped 7 February, at the gate of his house in Jattu, Etsako West local government area of Edo State.

According to a family source Thursday evening, Egele was released after N70 million was paid as ransom in far away Kaduna State.

He was released at an undisclosed location in Edo State.

According to the family source: “He was released yesterday morning after a ransom of N70 million was paid in Kaduna.

“As we speak, he is in an undisclosed hospital in Benin receiving treatment.”

The abductors had earlier demanded for N80 million for his freedom.

Edo Police Command spokesman, SP Kontongs Bello, could not be reached for a reaction.
