Edo IPMAN chairman regains freedom after paying N70m ransom

The abducted chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Benin Depot, Alhaji Abdul-Hamid Egele, has finally regained regained from his abductors.

Popularly called Baba Petrol, the IPMAN chairman was kidnapped 11 days ago, (Monday, 7 February), at the gate of his house in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to a family source ON Thursday evening, the victim was released after a whopping sum of N70 million was paid as ransom in far away Kaduna State, while he was released at an undisclosed location in Edo State.

According to him, “He was released yesterday morning after a ransom of N70 million was paid in Kaduna. As we speak, he is in an undisclosed hospital in Benin receiving treatment.”

The abductors had earlier demanded for N80 million before he would be released.

Edo Police Command spokesman, SP Kontongs Bello, could not be reached for a reaction.
