A 13-year-old boy (name withheld) has taken seriously ill after he was allegedly raped by one Ovie Oktogbo said to be notorious for luring unsuspecting teenage boys for defilement with N100 or N200.

The 43-year-old father of three and resident of No. 15 Ugboguhi Street Off Uwasota, Ugbowo, Benin City, was arrested on 10 February, 2022, following a complaint by parents of one of the victims after he suddenly took ill.

A statement by the Edo Police Command spokesman, SP Kontongs Bello, said the suspect who works as a guard in the area confessed that he has had anal sex with about nine young boys between 10 and 15 years old.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the rapist specializes in using N100 to N200 to lure his unsuspected victims who are children and teenagers between the ages of 10 to 15years in the area and have an unnatural carnal knowledge of them through their anus by applying Caro-White bleaching cream on both his manhood and the victims anus as the case may be for easy penetration.

“Luck ran out on him as one of his victim ‘M’ 13 years (name withheld) fell ill with swollen feet, face and pus all over his body. Medical examination revealed that his liver and kidney is damaged as a result of a certain chemical contained in bleaching creams.

“Upon further enquiry by the victim parents, he confessed that a certain man in the area force his way and forcibly had carnal knowledge of him, it was in that process that he applied cream in his anus, hence the report to the police.

“On receipt of the information the operatives of the command immediately swung into action arrested Ovie Oktogbo ‘M’ who is cooperating with investigation. He confessed to have defiled nine (9) boys in the area,” Bello said.

The statement added that six of the nine victims have already been identified and their parents also made formal complaint to the Commissioner of Police to that effect, while the remaining three are yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, who condemned the shameful conduct of the suspect, reminded parents, guardians and the society at large of their responsibility of guiding, protecting and teaching their young children the way of life.

Ogbadu noted that the society can only thrive when children are protected from the menace of immoral/criminal members of the society.
