Senator Hassan Nasiha becomes Zamfara deputy governor

Governor Bello Matawalle has nominated Senator Muhammad Hassan Nasiha as the new deputy governor.

The nomination was announced by the speaker of the House of Assembly, Nasiru Mua’zu at the resumed plenary.

He read a letter from Matawalle nominating Senator Nasiha as the deputy governor, hours after Mahdi Aliyu-Gusau was impeached.

Senator Hassan,61, is representing Zamfara Central Senatorial district.

He was born 12 December 1960. He was first elected as senator in 2007. He served till 2011.

He was re-elected in 2019 by default, after the Supreme Court cancelled the election of APC candidate.

He and his new boss Matawalle decamped to the APC from PDP last year.

Gusau has a Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery.

He has held appointments as Commissioner for Health, Commerce, Environment, Water Resources, Land & Housing, local government and chieftaincy affairs of Zamfara State (1999–2007).

At the 9th senate, he is the Chairman Senate committee on Ecology and climate change.
