Soldier takes cover, robbers with money bags: Video of Uromi bank robberies

An amateur video has given dramatic glimpses of the bank heists carried out in Uromi, Edo State by robbers.

In the video, an armed soldier is seen crouching beside a phone shop, while the robbers carry money bags across the deserted road of the town.

The video was shared on YouTube by Yugee TV.

According to the police, gunmen, who raided four banks and attacked a Police Divisional Headquarters on Thursday in Uromi killed seven people.

Two policemen were among the people killed.

Witnesses said the gunmen got to the town in large numbers and in several vehicles before they attacked the four banks with dynamites.

Police spokesman in Edo, SP Bello Kontongs confirmed the killing of the two Police officers and five civilians in the attack.

The banks raided were Zenith Bank, First Bank, Unity Bank and the United Bank for Africa (UBA).
