A Lagos businesswoman, Queeneth Wenike has dragged her sales representative, Ngozi Lois Ihusal, 37, before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly selling items in her shopping centre.

Wenike, who is the CEO of a Shopping Centre located on Admiralty way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos dragged Ihusal to court for allegedly stealing items valued at N920,000 and allegedly converted the money to her use.

The Police at the Maroko Division, Lekki, Lagos arrested the defendant following a complaint by the complainant.

Ihusal, a resident of Akowonjo, Egbeda, Lagos from Imo State was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a one count of stealing.

Police Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Hafsat Ajibode informed the Court in the charge marked M/10/2022 that the defendant committed the offence in October 2021 at 31A, Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos.

Ajibode told the Court that the complainant reported that her sales representative, Ihusal sold goddess cream, platinum cream, premium cream and other cosmetics and soap in her shopping centre valued N920,000 and allegedly converted the money to her use.

Ajibode said that the complainant further stated that she uncovered the alleged fraud when she audited her business account books.

She said the offence, the defendant committed is punishable under sections 287 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Ihusal, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate T.O Babalola admitted her to bail and adjourned the case till 16 March 2022 for motion.

Babalola ordered that the defendant be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility till she perfected the bail conditions.
