The Osun government, through the State’s Civic Engagement Centre, on Tuesday, unveiled its “feedback website” for easy access to government and its programmes by residents.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Special Adviser to Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola, on civic engagement, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the website was designed to deepen government- people relationship and afford residents the opportunity of direct contact with the government through modern technology.
Oyintiloye, who noted that the platform would further bridge the gap between government and the people, said both residents and non-residents could also have the opportunity to express their opinions about government programmes and how they were being affected.
He said the web platform was so designed in a way that residents could drop their enquiries or complaints, as well as, call the government anytime they like doing so, adding that dedicated lines and email addresses had been created for quick responses to such queries.
Oyintiloye, who noted that it was not possible for the government to reach out to all residents individually, said they could, however, have unhindered interaction with the government via the platform.
“The website is designed in such a way that people can drop their complaints and enquiry for government’s attention and can also call the government on any of the quick response dedicated lines and email address provided on the platform.
“It will serve as a feedback mechanism between the government and the people in the areas of development, as well as government policies and programmes.
“Through the website, activities of government, especially in the rural areas, would be further projected to the outside world.
“It will also create an avenue for partnership with many multinationals and NGOs with interest in the improved living condition of rural dwellers”, he said.
Oyintiloye, who appreciated the governor for establishing the centre, said it had been interfacing with the people across all social strata in a bid to promote social democratic ideals through inclusive and participatory governance.
Also, Mr Israel Famurewa, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education(SUBEB), while unveiling the website, said it would bridge the gap between the government and the residents.
Famurewa, who commended the civic centre for creating the website, said it would enable citizens to be fully aware of government programmes and events.
He said the state’s civic engagement centre had become a reference point in the Southwest and the country, adding that because of its impact, other states were already asking questions on how to replicate it.
In his remarks, Mr Richard Tinubu, the Director-General of Bureau of Social Services, said the website would open the state to a new world, noting that engaging with people was important in any democratic setting.
He stressed that the website would enable residents to interface with the government.
