Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator with the real name Sunday Adeyemo, has been released by Benin Republic Government.

The Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, confirmed the development on Monday.

The spokesperson of the group, Maxwell Adeleye, explained that Igboho was released to Professor Banji Akintoye and a French Language Expert/ Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran.

Adeleye said Akintoye described the release of Ighoho as a “Triumph of truth over darkness in Yoruba land.”

The latest development means Igboho spent over 231 days in Benin Republic prison.

He was arrested in Cotonou on July 19, 2021 after he was declared wanted by the Nigerian government on allegations of stockpiling arms to destabilize the country.
