Five masked gunmen bearing AK 47-rifles on Friday robbed Pastor Ezekiel John of his ash Honda Accord near Diobu Divisional Police headquarters, Afikpo street, Port Harcourt.

The car, which bears registration ABC307AS Abuja, was already loaded with baskets of tomatoes and pepper.

Pastor John of The Apostolic Church in Port Harcourt said he was robbed at about 7:45pm.

He had driven his vehicle to Afikpo street to pick up his wife and children who went to the market to buy the tomatoes.

He was accosted by masked gunmen, who after beating him mercilessly, made away with his car.

He said he quickly rushed to Mile 1 Police station to lodge a complaint.

The officers at the station called Control Room at Police headquarters Moscow road Port Harcourt.

After the officers made the call, he was asked to race to the Police headquarters to lodge the complaint.

He explained that he went to Moscow Road that night to report the incident and was assured that by next day, that is today, he will hear good news.

The latest incident happened less than 24 hours after gunmen carjacked the branded bus of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.

The bus had as its occupant, the Rivers chairman, Amaechi Okonkwo, Chairman Correspondent’s Chapel of the NUJ.
