The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

Obiano had earlier in the day handed over to the new Anambra Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo.

When contacted by PM NEWS, spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed Obiano’s arrest, but did not give details.

The Commission had on 21 November placed Obiano on its watchlist.

EFCC had written to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, on November 15, 2021 to place the governor on his watchlist.

The commission had requested the service to place the governor on a watch list and inform it anytime he is travelling out of the country from any of the international airports and other points of entry and exit.
