Quick Read

And this is a rivalry that’s refreshingly low on bitterness and hatred. Indeed, the two sides seem to respect each other. It’s football at its best, and all that’s left to do is just watch the show unfold.

Are Manchester City and Liverpool the two best teams on the planet at the moment? It’s hard to think of a team anywhere in Europe who would beat either side.

As it stands, both teams are on the hunt for three trophies: the FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League.

Realistically, either team could win the lot, but there’s a reason why people making football accumulator tips will probably suggest that the two Northwest teams will split the haul between them.

However, which team will win the Premier League and which will win the Champions League?

The Premier League

Up until recently, it felt like Manchester City had the league all sewn up. They had a substantial lead over every team, and they were playing amazingly well.

But then, things began to change. Liverpool went on a terrific run of victories, and now it’s more or less neck and neck. Manchester City, having led for so long, are probably still favourites.

But the two teams do need to play each other in the league. The destination of the Premier League trophy may well come down to that fixture.

Champions League

Liverpool have a bunch of European Cups; Manchester City have zero. There’s a sense that, having won so many domestic titles, this is the one they crave over all the others. But wanting something doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

In this competition, you’d back Liverpool to lift the trophy over Manchester City. They have history in the competition, and when it comes down to it, they nearly always find a way to win.

City did reach the final last season, though. Maybe this year, they’ll go one better, avenge their final defeat to Chelsea, and take home the prestigious European Cup.

Two Sides Pushing Each Other

There’s no denying the fact that Manchester City and Liverpool are pushing each other towards greatness. These are two of the best sides of all time, and they’re both competing at the same time.

For neutral fans, it’s a privilege to watch. Manchester City and Liverpool have the two best coaches in the world, many of its best players, and two great stadiums.

And this is a rivalry that’s refreshingly low on bitterness and hatred. Indeed, the two sides seem to respect each other. It’s football at its best, and all that’s left to do is just watch the show unfold.
