Aboh James, two others remanded in Abolongo for armed robbery

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday ordered the remand of three men at Abolongo Correctional facility for alleged armed robbery.

The defendants: Aboh James, 32, Kabiru Akinade, 45, and Tijani Oseni, 37, whose addresses were not provided, are being tried for alleged conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa-Babalola, who did not take the plea of the defendants due to lack of jurisdiction ordered their remand at the Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town.

Babalola ruled that the defendants would remain in custody pending the outcome of the advice of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter until May 30 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Olufemi Omilana, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired with others to commit the offence.

Omilana told the court that the defendants on Jan. 18, at about 11.40 p.m. at Energy Filling Station along Ibadan/ Lagos Expressway, while armed with a gun allegedly attacked the complainant, Segun Adegoke and dispossessed him of his Samsung cell phone valued at N150,000

Omilana said the offence contravened Section 1(2) and 6(B) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.
