A major milestone in the quest by Pastor Umo Eno to become the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State was achieved on Wednesday following his unanimous endorsement by the Akwa Ibom National Assembly Caucus.
Aniekeme Finbarr, Special Adviser to Gov. Udom Emmanuel on New Media, confirmed the development on Thursday.
Finbarr said the endorsement took place at the Abuja residence of Senator Akon Eyakenyi.
Sharing photos from the scene, he wrote: “Beautiful scenes from Abuja as the Akwa Ibom National Assembly Caucus endorsed Pastor Umo Eno for Governor 2023 during a consultation visit at the Abuja residence of Senator Akon Eyakenyi. Pastor Umo Eno is coasting home to victory!”
Gov. Udom Emmanuel had in January announced Eno as his preferred choice to succeed him in 2023.
The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly members endorsed Eno following the announcement.
The 26 members including, the APC member from Mbo State Constituency, Mr Effiong Johnson, adopted and endorsed him as their candidate for the forthcoming governorship primary and the 2023 general election.
