Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi; chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and 23 others have been named as winners of The Sun Awards 2021.
The award winners were unveiled on Monday by the Management of The Sun Publishing Limited.
The management said Governor Umahi and Alhaji Rabiu emerged as Man of the Year, while Lawan won the Political Icon of the Year award.
Speaking on the award on Tuesday, Francis Nwaze, Special Assistant to Umahi on Media and Publicity, said:
“His (Umahi’s) hard work, love for the masses, delivery of democracy dividends to the led, competency, dexterity, and sagacity, all formed the basis of this outstanding award.
“Umahi has won several awards from notable national and international organizations as always the best. Of course, his name has been written in gold.
“As we have continued to point out when looking for who will lead us as president come 2023, take a look at the antecedents of all and choose wisely. Governor David Umahi is always standing out in a positive direction.”
However Other winners of the award are Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who emerged as winners of the Governor of the Year award, with Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, as the winner of Courage in Leadership award.
First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, who is founder, Vicar Hope Foundation, is the Most Supportive First Lady award winner, while Emmanuel Ndubuisi Mbaka, CEO, Platinum Mortgage Bank, emerged as the winner of the Banker of the Year award.
In the business categories, Chief Benson Madubuko, chairman/CEO, De Chico Group, and Alhaji Auwalu Rano of AA Rano Oil won the Entrepreneur of the Year award.
