Enraged Nigerian football fans went on the rampage Tuesday after Ghana’s Black Stars knocked the Super Eagles out of the Qatar FIFA World Cup.
Though the scoreline in the jammed stadium was 1-1, Ghana edged out Nigeria on away goal rule, its early goal in Abuja reckoned as two goals.
With the blast of the final whistle, the fans stormed the pitch and vandalised the Moshood Abiola Stadium infrastructure.
Videos of the protest were shared on Twitter Tuesday night.
It was not clear whether anyone had been hurt.
Billows of smoke, apparently from tear gas canisters, could also been seen at a section of the stadium.
watch the protest:
The protest came as the social media resonated with calls for immediate sack of Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen and the NFF president Amaju Pinnick.
Read what they said on Twitter:
Amaju Pinnick should be handing in his resignation. Imagine the brightest spot in your time at the helm being "most beautiful jersey". His tenure has brought in stagnation of our football at all levels.

Amaju pinnick should Resign as NFF boss.
He does nothing…only traveling here and there with people's Money
How can You allow that match to be played in Abuja… a stadium your team has not played on since years.
Not even a friendly match… You still brought it here— SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE ✳️ #Sftos (@whizzyangel) March 29, 2022
