Principals and teachers in Oyo state accused by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) of any form of examination malpractice and falsification of documents will be duly penalised.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, made this vow, on Friday in Ibadan.

He was reacting to a report, indicting some schools by WAEC on the conduct of the recently released WASSCE results in the state.

Abdu-Raheem condemned such acts of corruption and malpractices, vowing that if found culpable of such offences, the headship of such schools will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

According to him, Gov. Seyi Makinde’s administration is putting everything aright in the education sector, through the provision of funds, regular payment of salaries, arrears and promotions.

Abdu-Raheem said the government will not condone examination malpractices as it is capable of painting the state in a bad light and destroying the future of the young ones.

Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Pastor Akinade Alamu, cautioned school management and teachers to be wary of such acts.

Represented by the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Bisi Oderinde, the Chairman stated that any Principal or teacher found culpable will be demoted.

“Principals of Schools are warned to always be present during examinations as no excuse will be tolerated,” he said.
